The Handbook for Campus Threat Assessment & Management Teams

The Handbook for Campus Threat Assessment & Management Teams

$48.00 | Add To Cart

This is the first book of its kind to provide guidance on how to assess threats on campus and intervene before violence can occur.

The Handbook presents the guiding principles and key practices of campus threat assessment and management. It details how to create a threat assessment team, identify students or employees who have raised some concern, determine whether those individuals pose an actual threat, and intervene to stop potential violence. The Handbook also details team composition and operations, and identifies a broad range of case management options to prevent harm and get help to persons in need. It describes how records should be maintained and how team members can share information while remaining within the boundaries of privacy and confidentiality laws. The Handbook includes useful checklists, reference guides and sample policies, procedures and forms.

The authors have extensive experience in threat assessment and violence prevention. Dr. Deisinger is a nationally-recognized expert in campus threat assessment and management and has served as the primary threat manager for Iowa State University since creating their team in 1994. Dr. Randazzo is a nationally-recognized expert in threat assessment and threat management. She formerly served as the Chief Research Psychologist for the U.S. Secret Service and now runs Threat Assessment Resources International. Mr. O’Neill is President and CEO of Applied Risk Management (ARM) and Ms. Savage is Special Projects Manager for ARM. They are co-authors of “Campus Violence Prevention and Response: Best Practices for Massachusetts Higher Education.

Praise for the Handbook: “The authors have developed an essential primer that all university leaders should read as they strive to make their campuses more safe and secure.” - Michael A. Roberto, Trustee Professor of Management, Bryant University.
